Burrell has been involved in the gaming sector for over 18 years and has been an operator, supplier, media partner and consultant. He started his career with PA Sport where he was in charge of the provision of all real time sports data before heading up Infosis Sports Division. He joined Sports.com in 1999, the largest non-US, sports website in the world, to run their English language sites & UK businesses. In 2001, he launched their wholly owned and operated sportsbook with one of the earliest In Play event centres ahead of the 2002 World Cup. In late 2002, Simon joined ESA Group - sports information supply specialists and media owners. While with ESA he launched the first 24/7 sports IPTV channel – Sportbox.tv – in summer 2004. He went on to launch the national Sunday newspaper, the Football Paper in 2006. Thereafter, he has run PicksPal UK, Liberty Media’s Sports Interactive operations outside of North America, devised new products for IMG and advised a number of fantasy and MMORPG operators.
More recently he has been providing consultancy to rights holders, media and gaming companies regarding international strategy, product development, content, harnessing social media and social platforms, customer acquisition & retention, business development, and fundraising. Over the last two years his launches include the iCard for Racing UK, the Official Daily Fantasy Game for the IPL and betting enabled content event centres and content enhanced betting applications. He presently runs his own consultancy firm and is the UK Director for new social start-up WayIn.
